The fairy tale of data sufficiency

Much like a prerequisite to the misappropriation of a granivorous bear’s breakfast, the retention of personal data is to be subject to a sufficiency requirement under the forthcoming Data Protection Bill and General Data Protection Regulation (#GDPR) from which it derives. Sufficient data is: not too much; not too little, but just right.

The question is what does this concept of data sufficiency actually mean for your business?

Your answer will depend upon the particular circumstances of your own enterprise.  Consider what information you need from your customers to provide them with the goods and services they require.  What do you need this information for and how long will you need to retain it?  Remember, the more information you retain, the greater the potential liability to your business.

Whatever the circumstances, you should consider implementing a GDPR compliant data privacy policy.  This is something we can help you with.
